On Tuesday, December 3, the Cinemateca of Bogotá will set the stage for an unmissable event for lovers of Colombian cinema. As part of the Vive la Cinemateca program, we are proud to present The Evolution of a Creative Idea in Colombian Cinema, featuring a screening of Kintsugi, the second feature film by screenwriter and director José Luis Arzuaga. Inspired by Japanese philosophy, which celebrates the beauty of imperfection, Kintsugi reveals how an initial idea transforms and comes to life at each stage of its production.
Supported by Law 814, which promotes the growth of national cinema, the film exemplifies how cross-disciplinary collaboration can elevate a story to levels of quality and authenticity that resonate with audiences. More than just a film, Kintsugi pays homage to cinema’s power to confront challenges and transform them into compelling narratives.
Alongside the screening, the event will feature an exclusive panel, From Script to Screen, with José Luis Arzuaga, Studio AYMAC CEO and executive producer May Mc’Causland, and invited screenwriter, director, and producer Maritza Blanco. The discussion will be moderated by experienced cinematographer and professor Alfonso Parra, ADFC. This panel will explore the ongoing challenges and adaptations a film undergoes from conception to final screening. The audience will gain firsthand insights into the creative decisions and lessons that shaped each scene, in a session that promises to be both inspiring and educational in one of Colombia’s most iconic cinematic spaces.
