Studio AYMAC is pleased to announce the premiere in cinemas of Kintsugi, the second feature film by the Spanish Colombian director José Luis Arzuaga.
Kintsugi, with the premise: We are all broken!, tells in 80 minutes the story of a unique friendship between a street writer who settles in a traditional Bogotá neighborhood and a young man in full transition to adults, triggering a series of events that explore the essence of youth and transformation.
The title of this work corresponds to the Japanese ceramic repair technique, where the cracks and fractures of are repaired with gold, highlighting the beauty of the repair. This same spirit is appreciated in this film which has a little of it in its history and in the way it has been made.
Kintsugi, co-produced by SMYJ, MScrea, and Studio AYMAC, was shot in the Colombian capital over a period of 4 years, facing several challenges that make it a unique feature film that experienced indisputable transformations since the first shooting shoot. Today, it is a film that has great production values, from the formation of the technical and artistic team that faced the challenge of building this piece that was worked almost as the technique to which it owes its name. It has the executive production of May Mc’Causland, Photo Director of Adriana Bernal, Montage by Julia G. Ávila, Sound Design Daniel Esteban Suárez – who deserves a special mention thanks to the fact that he risked creating an inspiring atmosphere of the 80s to the rhythm of pop and rock. It also had the participation of a youth cast headed by Felipe Arcila, Kathrine Escobar, Delio Arenas, Josué Bernal, Juliana Ortíz, Johnny Ramos, and Maura Palma.
This story will arrive on May 30 in the country’s movie theaters thanks to the commitment of many people starting with the director and producer himself and the benefits of Law 814 or Film Law, which had investors who bet on the project.
With the premiere of Kintsugi in Colombian movie theaters, José Luis Arzuaga seeks to connect with the national audience and explore new horizons, to present the film at international festivals.
