Studio AYMAC, the creative team behind the transmedia project “Appellation of Origin,” joyfully commemorates 8 years of profound exploration in the Pacific. This anniversary transcends mere numerical significance; it stands as a testament to their unwavering commitment to capturing the authenticity of the region.

As part of this celebratory milestone, we unveil the teaser for the feature film, “COOING, A Lullaby for Life!” This documentary serves as the central pillar of the narrative universe, aspiring to authentically portray the experience of birth in the Colombian Pacific. The primary focus revolves around midwifery and its pivotal role in the territories.

Every achievement over these years of diligent research bears witness to the evolving work dedicated to crafting a documentary that does justice to all that has been learned from the Afro and Indigenous communities present in the territories. Through this continuous learning, a compelling need emerged to share with those beyond the territory how life is lived, born, and embraced in diverse communities of the area.

This is not merely our story; it belongs to those who generously share their wisdom and experiences with us as we traverse the landscapes of the Colombian Pacific. Our heartfelt gratitude extends to friends, collaborators, collectives, leaders, and the vibrant community in the Pacific, who have transformed this journey into a tangible reality. The expeditions in Buenaventura and Guapi encapsulate the results of research spanning over 30,000 km, visits to 20 municipalities, and exploration of 15 districts, resulting in an extensive collection of characters and sources who now stand as our allies.

Presently, we offer more than 72 audiovisual products available for FREE on our website and social media platforms, encompassing mini-series, maps, 360º tours, blogs, and podcasts. These platforms serve as expressive canvases, offering firsthand insights into the experiences of the production team led by May, Gustavo, and Julia during these years of dedicated research.

The creation of the COOING teaser, A Lullaby for Life!, was made possible through its recognition at the Cali 2023 Incentives, coupled with the support of ASOPARUPA and the NATIONAL NETWORK OF TRADITIONAL MIDWIVES.
